DescriptionAnthony Whishaw studied at Chelsea School of Art 1948 -1952 & the Royal College of Art, 1952-1955. During these years he gained an Art Traveling Scholarship, Royal College of Art Drawing Prize, an Abbey Minor Scholarship and a Spanish Government Scholarship.
Whishaw’s first solo exhibition was held at the Libreria Abril, Madrid, in 1956 & he subsequently showed regularly at Roland Browse and Delbanco, London, throughout the 1960s.
He went on to have numerous solo exhibitions throughout the UK, including the ICA, London 1971, Oxford Gallery, 1978 & Kettle’s Yard, Cambridge 1982. He also exhibited in many group exhibitions from 1952, & regularly in the Whitechapel Open Exhibition, the Hayward Annual, and the John Moores Liverpool Exhibition.

He was elected a Member of the London Group 1979, a Royal Academician 1989 and Member of the Royal West of England Academy in 1992. Whishaw lives and works in London.
